About Us

Shirley started caring for children as a Newborn Care Specialist in 2000 when her daughter was a baby. By 2004, she was actively assisting families as a nurse with prenatal education, labor, postpartum and newborn care at homes, maternity centers, and hospitals. Shirley holds a bachelorโ€™s and a masterโ€™s degree in nursing from the University of Costa Rica.

In 2015, she started working in Massachusetts, providing newborn care and assisting families with shopping supplies and decorating the nursery room to welcome the baby. For the past five years, she has been researching other philosophies in addition to Montessori, discovering Magda Gerberโ€™s RIE and the Emilia Reggio approach.

Babyssori is the result of her knowledge and experience with babies and Montessori, which profoundly impacted her infant development point of view. At Babyssori, we love to share tips for expecting parents who are also passionate about the infant’s world.
